The Czech Chamber of Architects is a self-administered professional association. It was established by Act No. 360/1992 Coll. on the
Practice of Licensed Architects and Construction Engineers and Technicians, as amended, as a public law entity with its headquarters
in Prague and with authority across the Czech Republic. It is responsible for the professional, thus practical and ethical execution of the
architects’ profession in the Czech Republic.
Under the above legislation it is an association for all licensed architects, licensed architects working in urban development, and the
licensed designers of territorial systems of ecological stability (TSES); it also associates registered resident persons and carries out a
disciplinary supervision over the work of registered resident and visiting persons.
The CCA issues licenses to Czech architects and acts as an admitting authority for architects from the EU who decide to work in the
Czech Republic as visiting or resident persons; it keeps a register of such architects during their stay in the Czech Republic.
The main function of the CCA is to assist both the architects and their clients and, ultimately, the general public. The CCA has always stood
against any useless and unjustified curtailing of the rights of anybody on the market and pursued the establishment of fair conditions on
the market of architectural services.
Through its elected representatives, the CCA strives to carry out all of its entrusted duties in a legal and legitimate manner. It considers
the democratic professional self-administration to be an important aspect of a civil society, a practical tool to manage the so-called free
or independent professions. Through its international activities the CCA advocates particularly the equal rights for Czech architects on
the global market (in comparison with their foreign colleagues) and at the same time helps other Central and East European countries in
establishing professional organizations for architects using its own fairly developed profession legislative.
As to 30. 4. 2008 the CCA registers 3137 authorized architects.
